Helldivers 2 is a fantastic multiplayer experience and has definitely been the biggest success story of the year so far. Fans have absolutely loved their time with the game, but lately things have gotten a little boring thanks to the lack of updates. This is a deliberate choice on Arrowhead’s behalf, and a community manager has clarified this Helldivers 2 fans shouldn’t wait for the next update to be the “mother of all patches”.

Arrowhead has announced that they currently have ‘no date’ set for the next update. While there isn’t a planned launch day, they’ve been transparent with the community telling fans that patches have been slowed down on purpose so that developers can better test balance changes before releasing them. Arrowhead’s new CEO has also informed fans that they are listening to player feedback as long as you don’t yell at the developers to jump off a cliff.

The number of players has dropped alarmingly and many players feel that this is due to the lack of updates and new content. We don’t know exactly when the next update will finally arrive, but there’s plenty to anticipate even if the community has been warned not to wait for the “mother of all patches” to fix every complaint.

Helldivers 2 development clarifies next update

Helldivers 2 community manager Twinbeard previously told fans on May 24 that Arrowhead never called the upcoming patch a “balance update.” This was reiterated to fans to avoid sending the “wrong signals”.

While there’s no ETA on when the next update will arrive, Twinbeard assured fans that it’s “simmering well.” All of this was communicated to fans on the series’ official Discord channel.

Telling fans that they never called the upcoming patch a “balance update,” some players mistakenly took the community manager’s message as a denial that zero balance changes will be included. This alarmed some players, but Twinbeard has clarified what they actually meant by responding to one player’s concerns.

In response to a player’s concerns about no login balance changes at all, community manager Twinbeard provided the following message:

“I didn’t say there won’t be balances or just bug fixes. There will be a little bit of everything for sure. What I wanted was to try to avoid the next patch being perceived as the “mother of all patches” or a dedicated balance patch because we had more time for it than previous patches. I hope that’s clear enough – or as clear as something can be when you can’t get into the details.”

The message from the community manager clarifies that we will receive balance updates, but it is not a “dedicated balance patch” nor the “mother of all patches” that will fix every complaint within the community. This gives the players some hope while informing the fans to keep their expectations realistic.

As for what we can expect from future updates, the developer has said that they are working on a solution to help players hit by troll lobby leaders. Arrowhead is also looking to add an emote wheel with more emotes, and the developer has told fans that they believe a fix for the spear complaint is on the way.

We must also not forget that the Illuminate is obliged to make their presence known. An upcoming mission brings us closer to the Illuminate’s arrival, and leaks have shown an Illuminate-armed enemy along with a new weapon belonging to an alien race.
